Les Bronzés

Les Bronzés needs no introduction in France. This instant cult classic groups the county’s finest comedic actors; Thierry Lhermitte, Gérard Jugnot, Michel Blanc, Josiane Balasko and Christian Clavier (collectively part of the riotous Le Splendid theatre troupe).

Their characters are placed on a singles holiday in an Ivory Coast (the renowned Club Med resorts in France) and attempt to maximise the three big ‘S’s of the summer holidays - Sun, Sea and Sex. Whereas the dashing, professional seducer Popeye (Lhermitte) has no problem in acquiring the latter, farcical antics ensue for the rest of the misfit cast.

A milestone in French comedy, as much engrained in the national consciousness as the Carry On films here, Patrice Leconte’s film is both a laugh a minute and a cultural reference for lovers of film and comedy.
