In its sixty year history, the Cannes Film Festival has been filled to the brim with spectacle, rivalry, controversy and of course, great movies. From its post-war beginnings in 1946, having been delayed by the war itself, we see how the festival attracted the biggest stars to its shores including Errol Flynn and Brigitte Bardot in its early days through to the current crop of Hollywood superstars.

Episode 2 - REBELLIOUS TIMES

The French New Wave directors including Francois Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard cause massive controversy and manage to get the event cancelled in 1968. Sophia Loren becomes the new queen of the festival and the Golden Boys of American cinema including Martin Scorces and Robert Altman become regular winners of the Palme d'Or.
