Deciding to store a piece of recently inherited furniture in her cellar, Elisabeth (Jeanne Balibar) is advised that in order for it to remain intact she must wrap it appropriately. Whilst at the hardware store, she meets Sophie (Nathalie Baye), who is also worried about preserving her furniture. What seems like a meaningless encounter at first glance, transforms into the catalyst Elisabeth needs to re-evaluate every aspect of her life, with comedic and painful insights.
A careful and well-paced character study of Parisians, Jeanne Labrune constructs a poignant, cheerful look at relationships and their complex consequences. Spontaneous plot-twists abound in this playful film, which explores the everyday quirks of fate and chance encounters with verve and wit.
Labrune’s script is razor sharp and is delivered to perfection by a host of France’s greatest acting talent:
Nathalie Baye (‘The Flower of Evil’, ‘Tell No One’), Jean-Pierre Darroussin (‘Le Coeur des hommes’, ‘The Army of Crime’), Isabelle Carré (‘L’Avion’, ‘In His Hands’), Jeanne Balibar (‘Only God Sees Me’, ‘Va savoir’) and the screen legend Danielle Darrieux (‘Madame de…’, ‘8 Women’).
