Mafiosa Episode 1

Drama series chronicling the workings of a Corsican mob family following the assassination of its patriarch and the appointment of his young niece as heir to the throne. (Episode 1 of 8)

Sandra Paoli, criminal lawyer practicing in Bastia, Corsica is the niece of François Paoli, godfather of a clan feared within the island and respected by all. Although Sandra does not get directly involved in family affairs she occaisonally acts as a defender or prosecutor to François Paoli’s criminal subjects. On his way to a meeting Francois is assassinated and tragically dies in the arms of Sandra. She suddenly loses the most important man in her life. Commissioner Rocca and a American DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Agent feel obliged to act urgently upon the situation; François Paoli has no direct descendant and a clan war threatens the island.

The deceased Francois has chosen Sandra as his successor who inherits the numerous legal fronts of the clan. Sandra's brother Jean-Michel approves; he knows she has what it takes. However Francois Paoli’'s disgruntled men have gathered in a back room bar. A woman at the head of a clan has never been seen on the Island before, and today is not going to be that day.
