This week, In the House talks to two Oscar nominees for Best Actor in 2010, Jeremy Renner and Colin Firth, as well the director responsible for the decade’s biggest box-office hits, Michael Bay.

Renowned theatre actor Jeremy Renner received international attention in the 2009 critical hit and multi-award winning The Hurt Locker. He discusses his role as the reckless Sergeant William James and the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) training he received to aid this role. On a lighter note, Renner shares his ambitions to star in a musical.

Colin Firth discusses his role in Tom Ford’s A Single Man, in which he plays British professor, George Falconer, who struggles to find meaning in his life after the death of his partner, Jim. Despite his well-loved performances as Mr Darcy in the television series Pride and Prejudice, and his modern day update in Bridget Jones Diary, Firth’s performance in A Single Man now shines as one of the brightest in a prestigious career.

Action director Michael Bay has produced the biggest summer blockbusters in the last decade, including Armageddon, Bad Boys, Transformers, and his latest, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Bay divulges the ingredients involved in perennially forging box office gold.
