Simon Kessler (Mathieu Almaric), an in-house corporate psychologist, is assigned the task of assessing whether the company’s CEO Mathias Jüst (Michel Lonsdale) is unfit to do his job by its vice-president Karl Rose (Jean-Pierre Kalfon). His investigation will lead him to uncover alarming secrets about his superiors, the history of the company and call into question his own methods of practice.

A huge critical success, Nicholas Klotz’s film flexes unprecedented ambition in its scope as it delves into the psychology of the modern day corporate world. In the vain of other recent French films, most notably Laurent Cantet’s Human Resources and Timeout, Klotz examines with a keen eye the human cost of company life. Furthermore, the unexpected historical links he constructs add an unnerving atmosphere to a film which captivates and disarms the viewer through its strong story and powerhouse cast.

‘One of the most remarkable, ambitious and disquieting films in recent French cinema’ – Chris Darke, Sight & Sound
