Based on the French literary equivalent of Sherlock Holmes, this fast-paced period romp sees the daring jewel thief Arsène Lupin keeping the police on their toes while ransacking the houses of wealthy Parisians during the latter years of the 19th century.

Arsène is hugely successful until his life and crimes get a little complicated when he meets Joséphine, the Countess of Cagliostro, a darkly seductive adversary.

The luminous Kristin Scott-Thomas is captivating as this larger than life literary figure, while the mischievous Romain Duris is the perfect fit for the charming and ambiguous gentleman burglar, a mix of Zorro and Robin Hood. Add to this the luscious decor, sets, costumes and camerawork, and you have a rip-roaring period romp not to be missed.
