After March of the Penguins, comes this endearing portrait of a year in the life of Polar Bears along with the other land, marine and bird animals’ struggle for survival in the Arctic.
Intrepid directors Jean Lemire, Thierry Ragobert and Thierry Piantanida (who formerly worked with the great underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau) uncover one of the most beautiful places on earth, offering a magical window into life among the chill of the Arctic. Spectacular sequences are captured with breathtaking proximity, starting with the birth of two polar bears in their underground ice den and the cubs' first steps three months later when they emerge outdoors.
Miraculously fluid camerawork follows the migrations across the magnificent arctic landscapes, while the narration of revered French explorer Jean-Louis Étienne, translated here by Sven Eriksson, accompanies this astonishing portrait of an exquisite and ever-changing world under threat.
