During a routine summer holiday with his grandmother, an encounter with the local gypsy community will change young Max’s outlook on life far beyond the sunny season. Part of the Tony Gatlif season

Max, an only child, is 10 years old. A fan of gypsy jazz since he first discovered the guitar virtuoso Miraldo, Max’s newfound passion takes him to the town's gypsy neighbourhood in search of an old guitar. Fortune favours his quest as Miraldo himself agrees to teach Max all about his music and culture. He likewise encounters Swing, a young gypsy girl, brimming with charisma, self-confidence and freedom. Gatlif’s chariming tale from the other side of the tracks delves into the energy of the child’s perspective, offering two assured and authentic performances from its young leads.
