Peace One Day 2010
Cinémoi brings you exclusive coverage of the Peace One Day benefit concert in Paris, hosted by Jeremy Gilley and Jude Law with a lineup featuring Patti Smith, Vanessa Paradis, Ayo, -M- and Charlie Winston.
The Peace One Day 2010 Celebration at Le Zénith is the biggest event yet for Peace One Day founder Jeremy Gilley, whose efforts resulted in the unanimous adoption by UN member states in 2001 of the first ever day of global ceasefire and non-violence, now fixed in the global calendar on 21 September annually. The spectacular flagship event will be hosted by Peace One Day ambassador Jude Law and Sharon Stone and will include performances by POD’s music ambassador Charlie Winston, Patti Smith (acoustic), - M-, special guest Youssou NDour and Yodelice. The concert is being staged on Friday 17 September at Le Zénith venue in Paris to mark Peace Day.
In 2007, over 100 million people (source UN) were active on Peace Day, in 192 countries. There were life-saving initiatives in 14 countries and over 80 activities in Afghanistan alone, where Peace One Day was instrumental in securing the conditions in which safe polio vaccinations could take place; over three consecutive years (2007/8/9) a total of over 4 million children have been vaccinated against polio as a result of Peace Day agreements by all parties in the region.
Others who have supported Peace One Day include Annie Lennox, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kofi Annan, Ban Ki-moon, Angelina Jolie, Lenny Kravitz, Bryan Adams, Peter Gabriel, Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens), Jonny Lee Miller, Joseph Fiennes, Kasabian, Kate Nash, Corinne Bailey Rae, Dave Stewart, Jimmy Cliff, Faithless, James Morrison and millions of people across the world. The Peace One Day 2010 Zénith show is a Peace One Day Production in association with Gérard Drouot Productions s.a. (GDP).
