Renowned director, Cédric Klapisch, delivers a stylish and highly-polished thriller, laced with suspense, seduction and a clever wit that is distinctly Klapisch. Following the lead of the classic film-noir, each shot is heavily stylised with a dramatic sense of glamour.

The story tells of a young woman, Catherine (Marie Gillain), who leads a somewhat unfulfilled life as a TV camerawoman. That is, until she meets the enigmatic Jean (Vincent Elbaz), a small-time gangster with the confidence and attitude to go all the way – if luck is on his side. The unlikely pair form an allegiance and Catherine quickly becomes an integral part of the gang. Unfortunately, the underworld in which she has become involved is high risk and it is not long before she finds herself centre-stage in a world of violence, murder, prostitution and betrayal.

The talented Gillain and Elbaz work superbly together, clearly revelling in the stylish direction and seductive cinematography, whilst maintaining a sense of authenticity to their characters. With a fantastic supporting cast, this modern film-noir is arguably one of the most entertaining films of its kind.
