Guillaume Canet is often described as France’s leading star. A successful actor who first gained international attention in Danny Boyle’s adaptation of ‘The Beach’, Canet’s directorial efforts have posited him as one of the most successful new talents. ‘Mon Idole’ was nominated for a César for best debut feature. This dark thriller satirizes the power wielded by TV executives and the obsession of reality TV. Canet wrote and stars in the film as Bastien, a TV assistant who wants his own show, at any cost. A weekend away with a famous TV host and his wife will reveal just how much he is willing to pay. The film also stars François Berléand, nominated for a César for his villainous turn, and Diane Kruger, who has recently wowed audiences in Tarantino’s ‘Inglorious Basterds’. A must see for fans of black comedy.
