To add to Cinémoi’s recent roster of exclusive interviews comes an in-depth chat with Jan Kounen and Anna Mouglalis, director and star of the anticipated biopic, chronicling the relationship between two of history’s cultural behemoths Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky.

1913. Coco Chanel is a progressive, revolutionary mind in the world of fashion and Igor Stravinsky, a bold, creative and brilliant composer, is accused, after The Rite of Spring, of being too modern, too foreign; two distinctions Coco instantly relates with and is attracted to. Cut to seven years later, Coco’s forward-thinking fashion ways have made her wealthy and successful, while Igor, following the Russian Revolution, is now a destitute refugee living in exile in Paris. After a chance encounter reignites their spark, Coco invites Igor and his family to stay with her in her villa…

Peppered with trivia and facts about the history of the couple, Anna Mouglais (also starring in Gainsbourg) talks about what attracted her to the role of one of the biggest brand-names in the world today, and Jan Kounen recounts his efforts in bringing two of the most iconic figures of the 20th century to our screens.

Coco & Igor is released nation-wide Friday 6 August, courtesy of Soda Pictures.
