Cinémoi speaks to director Gustave de Kervern (Aaltra, Louise-Michel) about his latest quirky comedy drama, Mammuth, starring the renowned Gérard Depardieu as a retired man who has to chase his employers for his rightfully due pension. Depardieu reminds us why he is such a celebrated French actor, and in particular, why he is still one of the greatest French comic actors at work today. For this role he also takes on a new physical appearance, which can only really be described as “trampish”. In addition to directing, Kervern also writes and acts, directing himself in a small part in Mammuth. He also casts the inimitable Isabelle Adjani (Possession, Subway, L’histoire d’Adele H.) and Yolande Moreau (Amelie, Seraphine) in supporting roles.
